私たちは洗礼によってキリストと共に葬られ、その死にあずかる者となりました。それは、キリストが御父の栄光によって死者の中から復活させられたように、私たちも新しい命に生きるためなのです。（ローマ６:４）
洗礼と浴衣の対照的な変化
日本の浴衣は、夏祭りなどで着られる美しい伝統的な衣装です。浴衣を着ると、私たちの外見は一時的に変わり、文化のつながりを感じながら優雅な姿を楽しむことができます。
しかし、この変化は一時的なものであり、浴衣を脱げば、すぐに日常の姿に戻ります。
これに対し、洗礼は私たちに永遠の変化をもたらします。洗礼を受けると、目に見えないイエスの「救いの衣」を着ることになります。
これは単なる外見の変化とは違い、魂の衣服が新しくされ、私たちのアイデンティティが劇的に、そして永遠に変わるのです。
イザヤ書61章10節にはこう書かれています。「わたしは【主】によって大いに楽しみ、わたしのたましいも、わたしの神によって喜ぶ。主がわたしに、救いの衣を着せ、正義の外套をまとわせ、花婿のように栄冠をかぶらせ、花嫁のように宝玉で飾ってくださるからだ。」
浴衣はこの世の衣服であり、汚れたり色あせたりするため、時には交換が必要です。
しかし、キリストの衣は汚れることも、色あせることも、古くなることもありません。上記のローマ人への手紙10章4節が教えているように、過去のすべての罪は「キリストと共に葬られ」、その代わりに、キリストの愛、恵み、そして救いを通じて、私たちは神の目に、罪のない完全な者とされます。
私たちは、キリストが神によって「死者の中から復活させられたように」、新しい命を与えられます。
洗礼を振り返るとき、私たちがどのような地上の衣服よりも耐久性のある、永遠の衣を身にまとっていることを思い出してください。
私たちの罪は救いの衣によって完全に覆われ、もはや神に責められることはありません。
キリストの救いの衣を着ている私たちは、神によって、過去の過ちや、この世の基準で評価されることはないのです。
嬉しいことに、洗礼がもたらす、この魂の変化は永遠に続きます。
この真理が、あなたに平安と喜びを与え、あなたが神の子どもとして永遠に愛されていることを思い起こさせますように。そして、まだ信仰に導かれていない方々に、イエス・キリストの救いの素晴らしさを伝えていけますように。

We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

The Contrast Between Baptism and Yukata
The Japanese yukata is a beautiful traditional garment often worn during summer festivals. When we wear a yukata, our outward appearance is temporarily transformed, allowing us to enjoy a sense of cultural connection and elegance. However, this change is only temporary; once we remove the yukata, we quickly return to our everyday appearance.
In contrast, baptism brings about an eternal transformation. When we are baptized, we are clothed in the invisible “robe of salvation” given by Jesus.This is not just an outward change but a renewal of our soul that dramatically and permanently alters our identity.
Isaiah 61:10 says, “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
A yukata is an earthly garment that can get dirty, fade, and eventually need replacing. But the robe of Christ never gets dirty, fades, or wears out.
All of our past sins have been “buried with Christ,” and instead, through Christ’s love, grace, and salvation, we are seen as sinless and perfect in God’s eyes. Just as Christ was “raised from the dead through the glory of the Father,” we, too, are given new life.
As you reflect on your baptism, remember that you are clothed in an eternal garment far more enduring than any earthly clothing.
This robe of salvation completely covers our sins, and we are no longer under God’s condemnation. When we are clothed in Christ’s robe of salvation, God does not judge us by our past sins or by the standards of this world. The good news is that this transformation of our souls lasts forever!
May this truth bring you peace and joy, reminding you that you are eternally loved as a child of God. May we also share the wonderful message of Jesus and His salvation with those who have not yet been led to faith.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we are deeply grateful for the eternal transformation of our souls through baptism. Please give us the guidance and strength to share Jesus’ message of love and salvation with many others. Amen.
